The Science of Acupuncture: BBC Documentary on Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Presenter: Prof. Kathy Sykes. |
This is an amazing BBC documentary about acupuncture, an ancient Chinese therapy.
Acupuncture involves the stimulation of points on the body using very fine needles that are inserted into the skin and then manipulated manually or by electrical stimulation. It is one of the key components of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is amongst the oldest healing practices in the world. In the documentary, you will watch a young woman having open heart surgery without any anaesthetics, just acupuncture, a 2000 years old healing method. You will also see how acupuncture helps to treat migraine and many other conditions. Millions of people have started to believe that acupuncture works better than conventional medicine. This documentary attempts to explain the physiological basis behind the astonishing healing power of acupuncture and its growing influence in the Western world (Published April 2013). |
